2. Combat Blade mount
Traditional (requires set-screw and Allen key)
Turn the blade retention set-screw into one of the threaded holes in the emitter.
Quick mount (requires Artiglio Emitter)
- Artiglio Emitter (18) is composed from Mask (18a.) and Adaptor (18b.)
- Untighten the Mask (if there is already a blade, hold it while you unscrew)
- Insert the Combat Blade
- Tighten the Mask at the Adaptor while holding the blade
3. Power on and charging
Operate the switch with a pen, a screwdriver or an allen key. The switch is intentionally not easily accessible with the fingers to prevent undesired power off during duels.
POLARIS is charged via a USB cable (micro type C) not included.
- When connected to a power supply while ON the blade blinks Red Green Blue and White.
- Charging occurs also when switch is in OFF position.
- When switch is moved to ON, a “click” sound can be heard from the Speaker.
- In ON mode, blade will flash RED every few seconds during charge and BLUE when charge is complete.

4. Modes of operation
- OFF: Kill Switch is in OFF position, no power is supplied to Anima EVO preventing battery discharge. This mode must be used when shipping POLARIS.
- ON: POLARIS emits no sound, blade is not illuminated by LEDs but Anima EVO detects saber position and movements. While ON, battery is slowly depleted.
- ARMING: Keep POLARIS vertical -emitter upwards- and rotate it (either way) until the blade blinks, then turn it downwards with no delay. Keeping the vertical position will activate COLOR MENU (see below).
- SILENT MODE & VOLUME: tapping once with your palm on the hilt during the ARMING sequence, POLARIS beeps twice to confirm SILENT MODE. Only the next ARMED state will be without sound
- VOLUME: tap again on the hilt after Silent Mode confirmation sound to select volume 25%; immediately repeat to select volume 50%, 75% and back to 100%. Volume settings will be stored and kept for all following use.
- COLOR MENU: POLARIS plays a beep and blade starts blinking in different colors. Turn the hilt downwards to arm POLARIS with the color you like. That color will be used until another is selected using the COLOR MENU.
- ARMED: POLARIS plays sounds and blade light Fx depending on motions and impacts detected by Anima EVO.
- DISARMING: Keep POLARIS horizontally for few seconds to disarm. Once disarmed, POLARIS is still ready to detect position and movements

5. Gestures
STEP 1: With the power switch ON (See 3. Power on and charging ), hold POLARIS in a vertical position, with the blade up.
STEP 2: Turn the wrist slightly until blade blinks. Skip Step 3 for immediate ARMING.

STEP 3: POLARIS beeps and blade blinks in different colours. Proceed with step 4 to confirm color and ARM POLARIS.
STEP 4: Turn POLARIS pointing the blade downwards, approximately 45° from the vertical position.
STEP 5: Keep POLARIS steady in horizontal position for more than 3 seconds to DISARM it.
6. Conditions of use
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to POLARIS or other property. Read all the safety information below before using POLARIS.
Handling
POLARIS is made of metal (Aluminium), plastic and has sensitive electronic components inside (Anima™ Module). POLARIS can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it comes in contact with liquid. Don’t use a damaged POLARIS , as it may cause injury. POLARIS is a device designed for sporting activities.
Repairs
Don’t open the Anima™ Module and don’t attempt to repair the Anima™ Module yourself. Disassembling the Anima™ Module may damage it or may cause injury to you. If the Anima™ Module is damaged, malfunctions, or comes in contact with liquid, contact LamaDiLuce.
Battery
Don’t attempt to replace the Anima™ Module battery yourself—you may damage the battery, which could cause overheating and injury. The lithium-ion battery in POLARIS should be replaced only by Abridge or an authorized service provider and must be recycled or disposed of separately from household waste. Don’t incinerate the battery.
Charging
Charge POLARIS with a microUSB cable and power adapter compatible with USB 2.0 or later, or power adapters compliant with applicable country regulations and with one or more of the following standards:
EN 301489-34, IEC 62684, YD/T 1591-2009, CNS 15285, ITU L.1000.
A Micro USB or other adapter may be needed to connect POLARIS to some compatible power adapters. Only micro USB power adapters in certain regions that comply with applicable mobile device power adapter interoperability standards are compatible. Using damaged cables or chargers, or charging when moisture is present, can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to POLARIS or other property.
When you use any USB Power Adapter to charge POLARIS, make sure the USB cable is fully inserted into the power adapter before you plug the adapter into a power outlet. If not used for an extended period of time, in accordance to good practices for lithium-ion batteries, recharge the battery and set the Kill Switch to “OFF” position to prevent undervoltage with potential malfunctionings.
Prolonged heat exposure
POLARIS complies with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. It’s important to keep POLARIS and the power adapter in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging.
Radio frequency interference
Observe signs and notices that prohibit or restrict the use of electronic devices (for example, in healthcare facilities or blasting areas). Although POLARIS is designed, tested, and manufactured to minimize emissions, these can negatively affect the operation of other electronic equipment, causing them to malfunction. Turn off the POLARIS using the dedicated Kill Switch in case of restrictions, such as while traveling in aircrafts, or when asked to do so by authorities.
Medical device interference
POLARIS contains components that emit electromagnetic fields. POLARIS also contains magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with medical devices. Maintain a safe distance of separation between your medical device and POLARIS. Consult your physician and medical device manufacturer for information specific to your medical device. If you suspect POLARIS is interfering with your pacemaker, defibrillator, or any other medical device, stop using POLARIS.
Explosive atmospheres
Charging or using POLARIS in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as areas where the air contains high levels of flammable chemicals, vapors, or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders), may be hazardous.
Obey all signs and instructions.
High-consequence activities
This device is not intended for use where the failure of the device could lead to death, personal injury, or severe environmental damage.
Choking hazard
Some POLARIS components (e.g. screw) may present a choking hazard to small children. Keep these items away from them.
